Meet The Founder Of NextGen Financial Advice

Corporate Experience

Before entering the financial industry, Brian was a pharmaceutical scientist. He has a BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Toledo with minors in chemistry and biology. Research success in a pharmacology lab led to being recruited by PhD programs nationwide. Brian accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Iowa’s PhD in Pharmaceutics program. After completing some of the program, he saw there would be limited job security in science, and he withdrew from the program. From his scientific career, he has had articles on molecular biology and immunology published in peer reviewed scientific journals and has been cited hundreds of times by other scientists.

Following this, Brian was recruited by financial companies. He worked for a Fortune 500 financial company from 2012 to 2018 and served hundreds of families and small businesses. As his career advanced, he grew increasingly frustrated with unethical business practices that are considered normal within the financial industry.

The Beginning Of NextGen Financial Advice

In September 2017, his son was diagnosed with autism at age 7. Following this, he decided to make an employment change for his family, to help clients more, and to be a fiduciary. Brian left his previous employer in early 2018 and started NextGen Financial Advice to deliver financial planning and investment management services in a more modern and ethical way. In May 2019, his daughter was also diagnosed with autism at age 3.

Certifications

He currently has the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation. He plans to finish the coursework for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation. Following that, he plans to earn a MS in Personal Financial Planning from the College For Financial Planning and other designations.

Since starting NextGen Financial Advice, Brian has appeared or written articles for InvestmentNews.com, Bankrate.com, Investors.com, and Wealthmanagement.com.  He has been involved in autism advocacy in Minnesota and has several autism families as clients.

Personal Life

Brian lives in Elko New Market. He is married to Teresa, who is a labor and delivery nurse. They have four children who are actively involved in various sports and activities in the area.
