DiScretionary Investment MAnagement

For a lot of people now-a-days, the last thing they want to worry about is what's going in with the stock market and what should they do with their investments.

Whether you have been investing a long time or you have never invested before, I can make it easier for you to get your money working for you.  Some people are too busy to keep up on the news and the markets.  Others have zero interest in these things at all, but just want some one to help them make money.  You can outsource the investment decisions to me so that you can focus on your daily life and what's most important to you.

I use a disciplined approach to investing called Modern Portfolio Theory.  The general concept is that people want the best odds of making money with the lowest odds of losing money.  On a practical level, that means having your money spread out into different types of investments to try to have more consistent results.  This isn't a set it and forget it type approach too.  I make changes over time based on the data I am seeing and ~11 years of experience.

I determine how you should be invested based on a variety of factors including: risk tolerance, age, financial goal, tax sensitivity, morals, income needs, and more.  I will make investment changes when I think it makes sense.  Sometimes I will recommend to be somewhat safer or riskier than normal too.  I generally use exchange traded funds (ETFs) to create a portfolio of funds and then change those over time as needed or change their allocations.  ETFs generally cost less and are more tax efficient than mutual funds.  For clients who are comfortable with individual stocks, I can also invest into those as well.  I do not day trade client accounts, but can be tactical at times if I believe it makes sense.

Investment Management Fees

The Discretionary Advisory Fee is an annual rate, which is charged monthly and in arrears.  As your Household Value increases, the fee rate goes down on all money under management.

Example: if your Household Value is $499,999, then your annual rate would be 1.20%.  If your Household Value goes to $500,000, then your annual fee rate would go down to 1.10% on the entire Household Value.

Most financial companies use a tiered schedule where your effective fee rate doesn't go down that much as you have more money under management. I use a "drop through" or "banded" schedule where the fee rate actually goes down as you have more money under management.

I do not charge a management fee on my529 accounts. The Held-Away Account Fee is the fee rate if you want advice on accounts not under management, such as your 401(k) or 403(b) at work. This is for "one time" advice and not an ongoing service.
